The Ukrainian President Selenskyj accuses the war opponent Russia diplomatic inability. He also speaks to the Turkish president before possible new negotiations in Istanbul.

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj continues to participate in Kiev in the new round of negotiations set by Moscow for this Monday to settle the conflict. During a conversation with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the conditions of a participation in Ukraine were involved in the negotiations, Selenskyj said on the platform X in the evening. He did not give details, but said that there must be real results in a Ukrainian participation.

The recent prisoner exchange was an important result of the negotiations in Istanbul, but “unfortunately the only one”. A ceasefire is necessary for a movement towards peace, said Selenskyj. The killing must stop.

Moscow has set a second round of negotiations in Istanbul for June 2 in Istanbul to talk to Kiev representatives about a possible termination of the war in Ukraine. Russia has also promised a memorandum that Ukraine had requested for pre -assessment. Russia rejected this – and only wants to speak about the declaration of intent in Istanbul. The direct talks had been resumed for the first time since 2022 at the Russian initiative.

Selenskyj speaks of four meetings at the presidential level

When talking to Erdogan, there was also a possible four-person meeting with the President of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the United States. Selenskyj did not become clearer. He thanked Turkey for the support of the country in his struggle for his sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the same time, Selenskyj Russia accused of lost his diplomatic habits in his evening video message. “They continue to do things to prove that they are the most inappropriate player in the world. But that’s exactly what convinces that new pressure is needed – pressure on Russia.”
