The fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops in the border regions of Sumy and Kursk have not been tearing off for months. Now the Ukrainian authorities react.
Due to the constant danger of Russian shelling, the authorities in the northeastern area of Sumy have pronounced a forced vacuation for further eleven locations. The military governor of the area signed a corresponding arrangement, Oleh Hryhorow, as he announced on Facebook. More than 2,800 people are affected by the measure. In total, a forced sequence of forced vacuation has already been ordered for 213 settlements in the border region.
Russia wants to set up a so -called security zone along the border on Ukrainian territory in the Sumy region, allegedly to protect its own civilian population from Ukrainian attacks. Last August, Ukrainian troops from the Sumy area surprisingly started a push into the adjacent West Russian area of Kursk. After months of fighting, the Ukrainian units had to withdraw largely and Russian troops entered Ukrainian territory.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than three years.
