The right -wing conservative Karol Nawrocki won the presidential election in Poland. A step backwards for the EU?
According to the electoral commission, the right -wing commission narrowly won the run -off election in Poland. After a full count, Nawrocki is 50.9 percent of the vote. The pro -European government candidate, the Liberal Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, is no longer available. Trzaskowski had narrowly managed in the first forecasts. The choice is considered directional for Poland. The Polish election commission announced that all votes were counted. The official result should be available in the course of the morning.
The victory of the EU-critical Nawrocki is a setback for the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, because the president can block reforms of the government via veto. In the election campaign, Nawrocki had already called for a tightening of migration policy in the election campaign (PIS).
