Personnel, the SPD has reorganized after the electoral clap. But what about the program? The party is an ambitious schedule for this.
The SPD wants to give itself a new basic program before the 2029 Bundestag election. After the historical election defeat in February, “no stone could stay over the other in the party,” said the designated general secretary Tim Klüssendorf in Berlin. The SPD had to reorganize its basic values of freedom, justice and solidarity and thus lay down the cards.
The process is to be initiated at the party congress at the end of June. The new party program should be available by 2027, which should not only be the foundation for daily work, but also for the program for the Bundestag election 2029.
Party leaders grants mistakes
Most recently, the SPD lacked a round package, Klüssendorf admitted. Too often, target group -specific offers were made and only addressed individual policy content. A basic programmatic clarification is now necessary.
In the draft for the party congress application application, the SPD tip grants mistakes: “Our political communication was often too complex, has not reached people’s feelings and situations and was too often understood as PR-not as a dialogue.” One was not clear enough. This has lost a lot of trust.
In the Bundestag election, the SPD had reached its worst result in the history of the Federal Republic with only 16.4 percent. At the party congress at the end of June, the top is now to be chosen – however, a complete reorganization is not planned. Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil wants to stay party leader. Labor Minister Bärbel BAS competes as a co-party leader. Klüssendorf is to become general secretary and thus follow the new faction leader Matthias Miersch.
