New military aid for Kyiv

The Ukrainian President Selenskyj hopes for further help from abroad. It could come from the partners Kiev – the so -called Ramstein group, which meets in Brussels today.

Almost 1,200 days after the start of the Russian invasion, Ukraine can hope for new military help from the West. Defense Minister from Germany, Great Britain and numerous other countries today want to coordinate further military aid for Kiev in Brussels. The Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umjerow is also expected to meet the so-called Ukraine contact group. He should inform about the situation on the front and say which defense goods currently need its armed forces most urgently.

The meeting is headed in the NATO headquarters in Brussels by Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his British colleague John Healey. In the format, the two politicians are again replacing the former US defense minister Lloyd Austin, who initiated the around 50 countries comprehensive Ramstein Group and led to Washington until the change of government.

The new US government under President Donald Trump did not want to continue this job. It relies less on military aid than being as quickly as possible at the end of a ceasefire agreement. Other countries fear that this could be at the expense of Ukraine.

Criticism of Moscow’s attitude

The ceasefire targeted by Trump, meanwhile, remains out of reach. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha called for an answer to a document with suggestions for a peace solution that the Russian delegation was handed over on Monday at the latest round of peace talks in Istanbul. “We are calling for Russia’s answer,” wrote Sybiha on the platform X. “Every day of silence proves their wish to continue the war.”

The format of the Istanbul talks was devalued about the exchange of prisoners of war. “So far, Russia has rejected any significant format for a ceasefire,” Sybiha criticized. “This would be reason enough for our partners to impose new sanctions against Russia, already.”

General Staff: Fights in Donetsk region and in the border area near Sumy

According to the general staff in Kyiv, there were 134 Russian advances during the day. Pokrowsk is still one of the focus of the Russian attacks.

Another offensive runs in the northeast of Ukraine on the border with Russia. The general staff denotes the location somewhat blurred with “price core space”. Since practically no Ukrainian troops are in the West Russian region of Kursk itself, it is particularly likely to be attacks on the neighboring Ukrainian region of Sumy.

During the night, the Russian military again used drone swarms against numerous destinations in Ukraine. According to media reports, numerous explosions were reported from cities such as Cherson and Odessa and Saporischschja. In Charkiw, at least one person was injured by falling debris.

Russian attacks: Nuclear authority warns of the accident in nuclear power

In view of the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine, the International Atomic Authority IAEA warns of the risk of nuclear accident in a nuclear power plant. IAEA boss Rafael Grossi said during a visit to Kiev that the presence of his organization on site was essential more than three years after the start of the war to avoid the risk of serious nuclear accident. The situation is also dangerous for nuclear security.

Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression, the IAEA has played a central role in protecting and monitoring the condition and the security of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants. She regularly sends experts teams on the active reactor locations in Riwne and Chmelnyzkyj and has been in the Saporischschja nuclear power plant since September 2022, which has been under Russian control since March 2022.

Selenskyj changes the top of military leadership

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has made changes at the head of military leadership. The previous army chief Mychajlo Drapatyj was freed from organizational tasks such as mobilization, training and preparing recruits, said Selenskyj in his evening video message. “As commander of the United Armed Forces, Drapatyj will only focus on fighting questions so that he can devote himself 100 percent of the front.” Circumcart of competence was preceded by a Fatal Russian rocket attack on a military training area in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Drapatyj himself had offered his resignation two days ago as a consequence of the fiasco, in which he was killed in twelve soldiers and dozens were injured. But the 42-year-old is considered one of the most capable Ukrainian generals. Observers assume that Selenskyj did not want to do without his leadership qualities on the front.

In addition, Selenskyj Oleh Apostol appointed the head of paratroopers and Robert Browdi as head of drone troops.

NATO wants to expand defense skills extremely

In view of the continuing threat from Russia, NATO wants to extremely expand its military skills to deter and defend it. As the German Press Agency learned from alliance circles, it is planned to increase the previously valid targets by around 30 percent. In the future, significantly more far -reaching marching aircraft and drones as well as capacities in areas such as air defense and artillery should be kept.

In order to ensure that the requirements are reached, Germany and the other Member States are now assigned new national planning goals. They are to be formally accepted this Thursday at a Defense Minister of Defense in Brussels.
