The foreign policy chief advisor of the former Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Jens Plötner, is to advance the Bundeswehr’s armament in the Ministry of Defense in the future. Jens Plötner replaces Benedikt Zimmer
Plötner will have a key role as the responsible state secretary. He replaces the previous state secretary Benedikt Zimmer, who has been in office since 2017.
According to the Ministry of State, the Stöß, who was the third state secretary, is a fully judge and has previously worked as head of the law and organization in the ministry. The ministry justified the creation of the new post by “changing the security policy situation and the associated time pressure to implement the project”. From 2012 to 2016, Stöß was the state chairman of the Berlin SPD.
