The SPD has been agreed: the solos remains. But as soon as the black and red legislature is over, Chancellor Merz wants to roll up the topic again.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz wants the solidarity surcharge expire in four years at the latest. “We have another four years now with the solos, but at the latest then the solos have to be eliminated,” said the CDU leader to family entrepreneurs in Berlin. This would also mean a significant relief for many small and medium -sized companies that pay income tax.
In their coalition agreement, the Union and the SPD stated that the tax based on the financing of reunification remains in their reign. Since 2021, the solos have only paid the solos, companies and investors. It was abolished for 90 percent of taxpayers, at least partially for another 6.5 percent.
Merz also announced a rapid reduction in the electricity price and a reduction in bureaucratic loads for companies. He still wants to speak to Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) about how the electricity price reduction could be implemented in the 2025 budget.
Bureaucracy should lose weight by implementing EU guidelines only one to one and no longer tightening. He complains: “Everything that comes from Brussels is good and good, but still not good enough for Germany, so let’s put something on top. That has to stop now.”
