Charkiw is close to the border with Russia – and is therefore always the goal of attacks. This time it is obviously particularly difficult for the second largest city in the country.
According to Ukrainian information, at least five people have been killed in large -scale Russian air strikes on the Ukrainian cities of Charkiw and Cherson. In Charkiw, 21 people were injured, including an infant and a 14-year-old girl, said Mayor Ihor Terechow on Saturday morning in the Telegram online service. According to the mayor, 48 drones, two rockets and four sliding bombs, according to the mayor, fell in different locations in the country’s second largest city. As a result of the attacks that lasted in the early morning, several fires broke out.
“Charkiw is currently experiencing the strongest attack since the beginning of the war. In the past few hours and a half, at least 40 explosions have been heard in the city,” said Terechow. 18 blocks and 13 private houses were damaged. There were severe destruction on the buildings in pictures – with many uninhabitable apartments. According to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin, two people were killed in Cherson.
Ukraine penetrates immediate ceasefire
Russia had already covered Ukraine with massive air raids on Friday night. Moscow described the attacks as a “reaction” to the Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian military bases on weekends, in which a number of Russian military aircraft were destroyed.
Ukraine penetrates an immediate 30-day ceasefire in the war without preconditions. So far, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejects this. Talks between Russia and Ukraine last Monday in Istanbul brought no approach to the question.
Ukrainian troops have hit a Russian Iskander system for the first time-a video should prove that. The rocket system could have been intended for attacks on Kyiv.
