The centers of a controversial foundation for the distribution of food packages have been closed for two days. There were last threats to Hamas. Two should open again today.
The controversial Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF) today wants to reopen two of its distribution centers for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. After the auxiliary centers of the foundation were also closed on the previous day due to “direct threats” of the Islamist Hamas, two of them are to reopen in Rafah in southern Gazas at noon, as the GHF announced on their Arab Facebook page at night.
At the same time, the residents are asked not to approach the centers before the opening time. Otherwise you may not be able to distribute food packages, it said. Because of the “big rush”, the GHF announced the preliminary closure of its distribution centers in Gaza on Friday. Hamas threats also made an opening impossible the next day “without endangering life more innocent,” it said.
Around two weeks ago, Israel had relaxed the blockade of the aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip. The distribution of relief goods was taken over by the GHF. The organization circumvents aid organizations of the UN and other initiatives. She was accused of endangering civilians and violating neutral help. According to its own statements, Israel wants to prevent Hamas from acquiring aid deliveries.
