Linnemann: In the case of citizens’ money renovation “go to the substance”

The controversial support system of the citizens’ allowance is to be redesigned, the new government has made it. Is there a far -reaching reform?

CDU general secretary Carsten Linnemann penetrates profound changes in the agreed renovation of the citizens’ allowance in the black and red coalition. “We really have to go to the substance of the system,” he told the German Press Agency. “As in previous years, we cannot just announce any new sanctions that can then not be implemented in the local job centers.”

He is looking for the close shoulder to the head with Minister of Labor Bärbel BAS (SPD), said Linnemann, who is responsible for the topic as an Union faction vice. “We both have an interest in getting a fair social system again.” In general, the impression arose that the citizens’ allowance had already become “a cipher for injustice in Germany”.

“Need a paradigm shift”

The CDU politician emphasized: “We have to agree on a very important point: If someone is demonstrably not accepting a reasonable job, even though they can obviously work, the state must assume that they are not in need. And then he no longer receives civil allowance. We need a paradigm shift here.”

The Union and SPD agreed in the coalition agreement to convert the citizenship into a new “basic security for job seekers”. Mediation in work should have priority and easier in work -capable people. In addition, obligations to cooperate and sanctions are to be tightened.

Support of the solidarity community

Linnemann said: “If someone cannot work because he is physically or for whatever reason, it is not able to do so, then of course he needs the full support of the solidarity community.” However, the principle must apply: if you can work, you have to work. “Nobody can expect people to pay for him who go to work every day.”
