They were once five brothers. The Badeli brothers. They lived in Kabul with their father and without mother. With every new war in Afghanistan one of the brothers died until only the two youngest remained, Farhuddin and Farhad.
The inseparable. That’s how they saw each other.
Together they buried their brothers and the father. Together they opened a tailoring room and gave her the name, which translated translated “tailor brothers”. They both founded their own family, stayed together in Kabul, through all wars. But in 2021, when the Taliban came back to power, the brothers had enough of war and tyranny. They fled. Farhuddin towards Iran and Türkiye. Farhad towards Pakistan and Germany.
For the first time in life, at a good 40 years, the brothers separated. They experienced different fates and met a rapidly changing world, which in 2025 only seems to be aware: the boat is full.
They are now. Before big questions: Is there still a place for refugees? And will we have ever see our brothers again? This is your story.
