The Israeli Navy has been given the instruction not to have the boat with Greta Thunberg on board in Gaza. The Swede wants to draw attention to the situation in Gaza.
The Israeli Minister of Defense has instructed the army to prevent the arrival of a sailing ship with political activists on board in the Gaza Strip. The ship “Madleen”, on which the Swede Greta Thunberg is also on the road, should not reach the Gaza Strip, Israel Katz explained. “To Greta, the anti-Semitin, and her companions, the mouthpiece of the Hamas Propaganda, I clearly say: turn around because you will never arrive in the Gaza Strip,” said Katz, according to a message of his office.
The sailing ship of the so-called Freedom Flotilla broke out from Sicily in the direction of Gaza Strip last Sunday, according to the French-Palestinian EU MP Rima Hassan, to draw attention to the Israeli blockade for auxiliary deliveries that are contrary to international rights and protest against the ongoing “genocide” in the Gaza strip.
The MP of the French left-wing party LFI is known in France for their statements about the war in the Palestinian area. In February, she was denied entry to Israel as part of an EU parliamentarian trip.
A ship with Greta Thunberg failed before
Climate activist Thunberg wanted to travel to the Gaza strips with a ship of the “Freedom Flotilla” at the beginning of May. However, the ship had been damaged on the way. Activists suspected that Israel had attacked the ship with a drone. Thunberg had repeatedly participated in pro-Palestinian protests.
The Gaza War had been triggered by the major attack by Hamas and with it allied fighter on October 7, 2023, in which, according to Israeli information, around 1210 soldiers and civilians were killed. 251 people were delayed as hostages in the Gaza strips.
Since then, Israel has massively militarily accomplished in the Gaza Strip in response to the Hamas robbery. According to the Ministry of Health controlled by the Hamas, more than 54,700 people have so far been killed, including thousands of children. Whether the number is correct does not show.
In the meantime, large parts of the Gaza Strip have been devastated by Israeli attacks, the civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, the population of food, water, electricity and medical care largely cut off. As a result, several children have already died of malnutrition. The army also started a new major offensive in Gaza three weeks ago. Dozens of deaths are reported almost every day. The declared goal of Israel is to fill the coastal strip in the long term and to move large parts of its residents. There is international criticism of Israel’s approach – now also of narrow allies. The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, among other things, on suspicion of war crimes and the crimes against humanity. The International Court of Justice (IGH) is negotiating a lawsuit in Nicaragua in which Israel is accused of genocide. In January, the IGH Israel instructed everything to prevent any genocide in the Gaza Strip, and to take “immediate” measures to provide relief goods.
