Citizens’ money: Linnemann demands deletion for job refusers-SPD indignant

Union and the SPD agreed in the coalition agreement to convert the citizenship into a new “basic security for job seekers”. Linnemann urges to “really go to the substance of the system”, as he said. In his opinion, one point is particularly important: “If someone is demonstrably not accepting a reasonable job, although they can obviously work, the state must assume that they are not in need. And then he will no longer get civil allowance.”

Schmidt replied: “Instead of repeatedly asking the question of justice solely with those who have small, smallest or no income at all, it is important to participate more in the financing of our community that have the highest income and assets.” She added: “And instead of ignoring the realities of many people who need this support due to difficult life, illness, unemployment or other hurdles, you could also think about how to break down the hurdles and support them in a targeted and sustainable way on the way to work.”

The debate is not new, but is now a sign, among other things because the Union and SPD rule together. Last summer, Linnemann had already brought the proposal to discuss the basic security in the discussion about an increase in the number of citizens’ papers and the increased increased costs for the service to discuss the basic security. At the time, he got headwind from SPD.

The CDU social wing confirmed his criticism of Linnemann’s push. The Vice Chairman of the Christian Democratic Working (CDA), Christian Bäumler, told the German Press Agency: “For Carsten Linnemann, the citizen benefit is a political obsession.” Sanctions are correct, but were not enough. “Our goal must be to bring people to work, do not starve them or to make them homeless,” said Bäumler. The complete deletion of basic security may only be the last option.

The current legal situation recently described the Federal Ministry of Labor in one: “So -called refusal to work, which consciously and reasonlessly refuse to take up a concrete, reasonable work and which (within the last year) have already violated an obligation to take up work or have dismissed their employment, can be completely withdrawn in the civil allowance for up to two months.”

Last year’s expenses for civil allowance (BA) rose to almost 47 billion euros. The previous year it was around 43 and a year before around 37 billion euros. The BA summarizes this under the term “payment claims”. The payment claim is the amount that is entitled to the people and which is actually granted. The number of so -called needs communities, i.e. households in which citizenship is received, is currently around 2.9 million.
