In a symbolic action, Greta Thunberg and her colleagues want to bring relief goods into the Gaza Strip. Israel, on the other hand, is determined to prevent the blockade from breaking through.
The Israeli Navy is prepared to stop the solidarity ship of Greta Thunberg and other activists on the way to Gaza. It is expected that the ship “Madleen” of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition alliance could reach territorial waters during the night of Israel’s night, the Israeli Kan broadcaster reported. The Marine command Schajetet 13 trained for a non-violent takeover of the ship.
The ship could then be towed into the Israeli port of Aschdod and the activists on board, Kan continued. This had already happened several times in the past, and the activists were then deported via Ben Gurion International Airport at Tel Aviv.
Sharp warning from the Minister of Defense
The Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz had instructed the army to prevent the ship’s arrival and “take every necessary funds”. In a sharply formulated message from Katz it was also said: “I say clearly:” The anti-Semitic Greta and her friends, the Hamas propagandaist, clearly: You should reverse-because you will not reach Gaza. ” Also in previous cases, Israel had not approved in earlier cases to create their ships in the Gaza Strip.
Taga -length drive through the eastern Mediterranean
Thunberg and eleven other activists had set sail on Sicily a week ago to bring the Freedom Flotilla Coalition alliance with the ship “Madleen” to bring the Freedom Flotilla Coalition an urgently needed assistant to Gaza. At the same time, they wanted to pay international attention to the humanitarian situation on site. After their day trip through the eastern Mediterranean, they actually wanted to arrive on the coast of Gazas on Monday morning.
Thunberg has become world famous with her rigorous struggle for more climate protection. The now 22-year-old Swede has been campaigning for the interests of the Palestinian population for a long time. Without social justice, there could be no climate justice, she complained.
Hard criticism of Thunberg to Israel
Thunberg repeatedly accuses Israel of committing a genocide of the Palestinians. Critics, on the other hand, hold out to ignore the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, which triggered the Gaza War in her allegations towards Israel. Around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were dragged into the Gaza strips as hostages. A fifth of them have not yet been released.
Since the beginning of the Gaza War 20 months ago, according to the health authority controlled by the Hamas, more than 54,800 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip and devastating damage has been caused.
Israel has blocked the delivery of food, medication and other vital goods in the Gaza Strip in the course of their war against Islamist Hamas for almost three months, but recently loosened this blockade. According to Hamas, the Israeli government claims to put pressure on Hamas so that it exposes the hostages they have captured.
Again and again attempts to break the gaza blockade
After the violent takeover of the control in the Gaza Strip by the terrorist organization Hamas in 2007, Israel had tightened a blockade of the coastal strip. The measure supported by Egypt is justified with security considerations. Hamas has been committed to Israel’s destruction.
Again and again activists have tried to break the blockade at sea. In such a campaign in 2010, Israeli soldiers stormed the Turkish ship “Mavi Marmara”, with ten Turkish citizens killed.
Foundation distributes Gaza aid goods directly with truck for the first time
The Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF) for the first time distributed food outside the distribution centers directly to Palestinians with truck. The foundation said that with the help of Palestinian local workers, more than 10,000 packages with relief goods were issued directly to the population in the north of Rafah. In addition, food was distributed in solid centers as usual. Since the beginning of the campaign, GHF has distributed more than ten million meals to the civilian population.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa meanwhile reported that 13 people were killed not far from such a center near Rafah. The Israeli army said that several suspects had approached the troops on Sunday night. According to the instructions to distance themselves, the soldiers would have given warning shots.
Most recently, there were several reports of dead by Israeli shelling near the controversial foundation distribution centers. After that, the GHF wanted to improve security there. It is worked on making the distribution as safe as possible, it was said in the message. For security reasons, all Palestinians who were traveling to the centers would be asked to follow the routes defined by the army, it said.
Army: Corporate by Hamas leader Mohammed al-Sinwar identified
According to the Israeli army, the body of the Hamas military leader Mohammed al-Sinwar was identified. The remains were found in an underground tunnel under the European Hospital in Chan Junis in the south of the Gaza Strip, it said in a statement.
The Hamas operator was killed together with the commander of the Rafah Brigade, Mohammed Sabaneh, in an attack on May 13th. They would have kept themselves hidden in an underground command and control center of the Islamist Hamas.
Various items that had been heard by the two men were found in the tunnel, the army said without further details. “The corpses of other terrorists were discovered during the mission, their identities are currently being examined.”
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had recently said in parliament that Mohammed al-Sinwar was dead. It was the brother of the former Hamas leader Jihia al-Sinwar, who was also killed. After the Israeli military killed the Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif last year, Al-Sinwar became the new head of the armed Hamas arm, the so-called Kassam brigades.
