Many media worldwide report on the protests in the US west coast state of California against the deportation policy of the Trump government. Journalists are now also getting into the line of fire.
A press assignment on the edge of the demonstrations in Los Angeles can currently be dangerous: Journalist Lauren Tomasi is on the air for the Australian broadcaster 9News in the US metropolis when it suddenly bangs behind her. Tomasi screams loudly, grabs his leg, some curses follow, the cameraman disappears from the situation with her. The US broadcaster CNN has released a video of the scene in which Tomasi was hit by a rubber floor. According to the broadcaster, she was unharmed.
On the other hand, it hit a British news photographer much more violently: According to the British news agency PA Press, it had to be emerged. Nick Stern observed a confrontation between demonstrators and the police in Paramount on Saturday, a district of Los Angeles inhabited by immigrants from Latin America. Suddenly a 14 millimeter long “sponge floor” drilled into his thigh, the agency reported. He is currently recovering from the operation.
In the metropolis on the US west coast, protests against deportations have heated up after US President Donald Trump ordered the use of the national guard and mobilization of the regular military.
