Robert Habeck is said to have said in the 2024 election campaign “inaccessible facts” about Sahra Wagenknecht and her party. A case for the public prosecutor.
Due to alleged defamation of Sahra Wagenknecht and the BSW, the Dresden public prosecutor’s office is investigating the former Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens). According to the criminal complaint, Habeck is said to have expressed “incorrect facts” about the party and its chairperson when the criminal complaint was said to have announced that the public prosecutor said. According to the position of the defense, it was therefore a critical expression permitted under criminal law.
As part of the campaign event of his party on August 30, Habeck gave a speech on August 30 in a cinema in the Saxon state capital, in which the statements were said to have been given. Habeck was Federal Minister at the time, now he is a member of the Bundestag.
“It’s not about insult, but about open lies and defamation for manipulation of the election campaign,” Wagenknecht told Bild. Her party defends herself against Habeck’s claim that the BSW would “have himself paid for his opinion”, “buy voices” on the Internet and “build troll armies,” said Wagenknecht.
Review of Robert Habeck’s immunity
According to the authority, the criminal complaint from Wagenknecht and the BSW received last November. In February, the public prosecutor informed the President of the German Bundestag about the intention of initiating criminal proceedings against Habeck, and submitting an application for the abolition of immunity. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated due to a defamation against people of political life.

The way there was long, in the end it went quickly. On January 8, 2023, Sahra Wagenknecht presented her party, which is (provisionally) named after her: the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht – reason and justice”. After the PDS and the left, it is already the third party to which it belongs. On July 16, Wagenknecht celebrates her 55th birthday

The public prosecutor can only investigate the suspicion of the duly recovery if Habeck’s immunity in the Bundestag is lifted. A decision on this has not yet been sent, according to the public prosecutor’s communication. Last week, the Bundestag had rejected the immunity of Habeck. The spokesman for the public prosecutor could not confirm whether this is the same case.
