The police in the west coast metropolis announced on Tuesday evening that they had arrested numerous people. “Several groups continue to gather (…) and mass arrests are in progress,” the police wrote in the online service X. They did not name an exact number.
The sometimes violent protests had been triggered by the increased approach of the immigration authority ICE against migrants. In other US cities, too, there were protests against the procedure of masked and armed ICE officials, some of which migrants have violently pull into cars to deport them.
