Because of the protests in Los Angeles, US President Trump had mobilized the national guard. Now the soldiers are also used in another state.
The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, wants to use the National Guard in several places in the state of protests. He announced this on platform X. The demonstrations against the migration policy of US President Donald Trump in Los Angeles had previously extended to other cities in the United States.
The daily newspaper “San Antonio Express-News”, citing a spokesman for the governor, reported that the soldiers were on standby with regard to planned protests. Abbott initially gave no further details about the use. This Wednesday and Saturday, people in the metropolis of San Antonio want to go on the streets.
In the days before, people in Los Angeles had protested the hard migration course of Trump and offspring from the ICE immigration authority. The US government has therefore mobilized 4,000 soldiers from the National Guard and 700 marine fans of the regular armed forces for the deployment in Los Angeles – against the will of the governor of California, Gavin Newsom. The soldiers gradually arrive and, according to Trump’s will, should stay in the city until there is no danger. So far, an assignment has been scheduled for a maximum of 60 days.
Trump’s decision to send members of the National Guard and the regular armed forces against the will of the responsible governor to LA is a significant escalation and demonstration of power by the president. His approach is extremely unusual and controversial. In Texas in turn, the governor there decided to take the step. Because of the protests, the National Guard is currently only used in California and Texas.
