A psychiatric expert attested a mental illness to the accused. The man may have been unable to guilt in the attack in the Park Schöntal near Aschaffenburg downtown. Investigators did not find any evidence of radicalization of the man “or Islamist, extremist or terrorist background”.

According to the public prosecutor, the appraiser also assumes “that the suspect’s psychiatric illness is not only temporary and that if it cannot be traced permanently, further, highly aggressive acts are to be expected with a very high probability.” The authority did not say which disease the refugee has specifically.

A security procedure deals with unlimited accommodation in a closed department of a psychiatric hospital. Even if there is no indictment as in normal criminal proceedings, such a case is negotiated in court.

Now the district court has to decide on the opening of the safety process in front of a jury.

Suspect several times in psychiatry

Earlier knife incident could also come to court

The public prosecutor also wants to have an earlier incident negotiated in court who had made headlines after attacking the children in the park. As early as the attack, the accused is said to have threatened and injured a roommate with a meat knife in an asylum seeker accommodation.

Because the case did not investigate an investigation, the public prosecutor later investigated the police officers involved in the deployment of suspected punishment. A result of the investigation was initially pending.
