As a measure against the shortage of doctors, the CDU wants foreign students to practice in Germany initially – for at least five years and in the country.
In the struggle for medical care in Germany, the CDU wants to invoice foreign medical students if they return to their home countries after graduation.
“If you are studying here, you should practice in the country for at least five years. If you don’t want this, you have to pay back the costs of this first-class training,” said the deputy chairman of the Union Group, Sepp Müller (CDU), the “Bild” newspaper.
Lack of doctors: Talents are supposed to work according to university in Germany
The State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health, Tino Sorge (CDU), also demanded that Germany had to prevent the return of foreign medical students to their countries of origin after graduation. “Our goal must be to keep such highly qualified specialists. We have to gain young doctors to work in Germany instead of looking at the emigration,” said the newspaper. Each medical place of medical place is associated with high costs.
The Union Group’s research policy spokesman, Florian Müller (CDU), told the “picture” that the federal states should regulate the recovery of the study costs on their own. “We have to take care of international talents after the university in Germany,” he said.
