The dispute over Trump’s migration policy continues in the United States. New protests are planned at the weekend. For the demonstrators in Texas, the governor has pithy words.
The state of Texas wants to counter planned protests at the weekend against the US government under President Donald Trump with all hardness. “Peaceful protests are part of the structure of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we saw in Los Angeles,” said Republican governor Greg Abbott. More than 5000 soldiers from the National Guard and 2000 other officials of a Texas police unit will therefore support authorities throughout the state. The aim is to ensure order in demonstrations. “Don’t get on with Texas,” added Abbott.
The governor had previously announced the use of the national guard in several locations in the state, but without naming without details.
Tensions in the USA could continue to increase
In the United States, the protests that started in Los Angeles and are primarily aimed at the migration policy of the Trump government. The tensions could continue to increase at the weekend: a large military parade will take place in Washington on Saturday evening-on the occasion of the 250th day of foundation of the US army. The appointment falls on Trump’s 79th birthday. The event is critically seen by many Americans. Protests were announced nationwide.
For use in demonstrations in the Los Angeles area, Trump mobilized 4,000 soldiers from the National Guard and 700 marine fans of the regular armed forces – against the will of the democratic governor Gavin Newsom. This procedure is extremely unusual and controversial. In Texas, on the other hand, Abbott made the decision himself.
