Israel has attacked one of the most important nuclear facilities in Iran. The top UN atom guard warns of the episodes. He would like to get an idea of the situation on site as soon as possible.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, condemned the attack on Iran’s nuclear program. “I repeatedly stated that nuclear facilities may never be attacked, regardless of the context or under what circumstances,” he said before the IAEA governor council in Vienna.
“This development is extremely worrying,” said Grossi. Such attacks “could harm both people and the environment,” he warned. He pointed out that various international legal norms ban attacks on civilian nuclear facilities.
Grossi announced that, according to Iranian authorities, the uranium enrichment system in Natan had been hit in the course of the Israeli attack. The radiation values on site are not increased. The second enrichment system in Fordo and the nuclear center in Isfahan are not affected.
Grossi announced that he was ready to travel to Iran as soon as possible to examine the situation and to preserve nuclear security in Iran.
