Iran also responds to the nuclear program of the country with rocket attacks on the unprecedented Israeli attack. In Israel the sirens howl, there are injuries.
After the massive air strikes of the Israeli forces on nuclear facilities and military facilities in Iran, the leadership in Tehran reacted to Israel with rocket fire. The Israeli army called on the population to go into shelter – then explosions were heard. According to Israeli rescue workers, there were 15 injured, news portals reported by at least 35 injuries. According to media reports, a high -rise in the Tel Aviv area was hit directly.
Iranian state media reported three waves of attack. We were talking about hundreds of rockets. According to the revolutionary guards, these were aimed at dozens of military goals and air force bases. “The armed forces of the Islamic Republic will certainly move this wicked Zionist enemy,” wrote Iran’s head of state Ajatollah Ali Chamenei on the news platform X.
According to the unconfirmed media reports, the United States helped its allied Israel to defend their missiles. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights based in Great Britain, the US military caught a rocket over Syria. In Jordan, “flight objects” crashed in several areas, the state news agency Petra reported.
Israel attacks over 100 destinations in Iran
The attacks were the answer to the massive attack that Israel had started on Iran on Friday night. The major attack was mainly the country’s nuclear program. More than 100 destinations were hit in the millions of Tehran, Tabris and Schiras as well as the underground nuclear layout of Natan. According to Israeli information, an uranium conversion system Isfahan was also a goal.
Western states want to prevent Iran from building an atomic bomb – Tehran denies that the goal is to pursue it. Negotiations between Washington and Tehran on a new agreement to limit the nuclear activities have so far been unsuccessful. The Israeli chief of staff Ejal Zamir said with a view to the Iranian nuclear program: “We started this operation because the time has come – we are at a point without repentance.” He added: “We cannot afford to wait for another time, we have no other choice.”
The Israeli President Izchak Herzog justified the major attack with an existential threat to the Jewish people. So far, Israel is the only nuclear power in the region.
According to Iranian information, leading heads of the military were also killed, including the commander of the mighty revolutionary guards, Hussein Salami, chief of staff Mohammed Bagheri and the commander of the air forces of the Iranian revolutionary guards, Brigadegeneral Amir Ali Hajisadeh. At the same time, Iranian reports were killed at least six leading scientists and professors from the areas of nuclear and physics. The researchers died during nightly attacks on their apartments in Tehran.
Iran threatens to retaliate after Israeli attacks
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of an “opening strike” on Friday. “This operation will last as many days as it takes to eliminate this threat,” said the head of government. All day long, there were always new reports or communications from attacks, explosions or active air defense. The leadership of the Islamic Republic assessed the air raids as a declaration of war and threatened retaliation. According to their own statements, the Iranian armed forces shot several drones and two Israeli fighter jets. The denied Israel later.
According to Israeli media, the military escalation has been prepared by the government in Tel Aviv for years. Units of the Mossad abroad would have placed precision weapons, vehicles and drone bases near rocket silos and air defense positions in advance of the attacks. At the beginning of the air strikes, these weapon systems had made their goals with extraordinary accuracy by remote control. In this way, air defense positions were destroyed.
Iran’s “axis of resistance” increasingly weakened
The weakening of the Iranian “axis of resistance” was also contributing to the decision for the attack – which has been discussed for more than a decade. After around 20 months of the Gaza war, Islamist Hamas is decimated, including the Lebanese Hezbollah. On top of that, Syria has no longer served as a corridor for arms deliveries from Iran to the Hisbollah since the overthrow.
The attack triggers fears that the tensions between the two upgraded countries could expand into a comprehensive war in the region. Several countries and UN chief António Guterres called for restraint and immediate reduction in tensions.
