Merz: Iran must not develop nuclear weapons
The escalation in Middle East is coming to the fore at the G7 summit. Chancellor Merz has clear messages to Iran. Germany supports Israel.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the Iranian nuclear weapons program as an existential threat to Israel. “Iran must not develop nuclear weapons and do not own,” said the CDU politician before his departure to the G7 summit in Canada. Iran’s progress on the way to the nuclear weapon led to Israel attacked military destinations in Iran on Friday. “This topic will be very high on the agenda of the G7 summit.”
According to her own representation with air strikes on Iran, Israel wants to prevent Iran from building an atomic bomb. Iran replied with attacks on Israel.
Merz said Israel asked Germany to make fire extinguishers available. “We will immediately initiate this.”
The Chancellor said that all diplomatic efforts had not led to Iran refrained from a military nuclear program. “Israel has the right to defend its existence and security of its citizens.”
