According to a Forsa survey, the Germans believe for the star Not to Vladimir Putin’s will to peace. A majority still relies on a Chancellor call to the Kremlin powerkeeper.
Nothing has changed in Wladimir Putin’s attitude against Wladimir Putin’s attitude towards the attitude of Vladimir Putin in the war in the spring of 2022. This was the result of a Forsa survey on behalf of the star. As in previous surveys, only one fifth of the Germans – 22 percent – still believes that the Russian President is in principle interested in termination of the war through a negotiation solution. As in the first two years of the war, almost three quarters of German citizens (73 percent) assume that Putin rely exclusively on a military victory in Ukraine.
A little more than half of the German citizens (56 percent), however, would basically find it useful if Chancellor Friedrich Merz would try to call Putin on the possibilities of ending the Ukraine war. 42 percent of German citizens currently see little sense in such a conversation. While the support of the Union and the Greens predominates the proportion of skeptics, a majority of the SPD supporters, but above all the supporter of the left and AfD, think it makes sense to try a direct phone call between Merz and Putin.
At the Social Democrats, a manifesto had recently caused excitement in which left -wing comrades advocate discussions with Putin and request disarmament initiatives. The paper was read as an attack on its own party leadership and the federal government because it thwarted the current German course. The debate comes at a delicate time. NATO members are currently discussing five percent of their economic output in the future. The NATO summit at the end of the month should decide on the new goal. The SPD also meets its party congress at the end of June. Intensive discussions about your own programs are expected there.
