The argument between Israel and Iran has escalated militarily. But the US President observes a will for de-escalation in Tehran.
In the conflict between Iran and Israel, Tehran has signaled willingness to talk, according to US President Donald Trump. “You would like to talk, but you should have done that beforehand,” said Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada when asked whether there were signals for a possible de-escalation from Iran. “You have to conclude an agreement and that is painful for both sides.” At the same time, Trump emphasized: “I would say that Iran does not win this war. And they should talk, immediately before it is too late.”
One question about what could cause the United States to interfere militarily into the conflict, gave way to Trump. “I don’t want to talk about that,” he replied.
Will the nuclear negotiations with Iran continue soon?
Israel has been attacking goals in Iran for several days – including nuclear facilities, leading military, nuclear scientists, defense positions, destinations in cities and oil and natural gas fields. The main goal is to prevent the Islamic Republic from the secret development of nuclear weapons. Iran reacted with counterattacks to Israel.
The Trump government had previously tried to contain the Iranian nuclear program on the way of negotiation. With the mediation of the Gulf State of Oman, there were direct discussions between representatives of Washington and Tehrans. After the military escalation between Israel and Iran, a planned further round of talks was initially canceled.
According to a report by the “Wall Street Journal”, Iran now wants to return to the negotiating table. Tehran informed intermediaries from Arab countries that it was ready for discussions about its nuclear program as long as the United States did not participate in the attacks, the sheet wrote. In addition, Iran is said to have directed an appeal to the government in Israel to limit the extent of violence.
