After the fatal shots in Minnesota, a suspect is now. He is said to have stopped more houses of politicians on the night of the crime than initially known.
The man who is suspected of shoting a democratic politician and her husband has visited the houses of a total of four politicians in the US state of Minnesota. He did so with the intention of killing them, the responsible US prosecutor Joseph Thompson said at a press conference.
The now 57 -year -old man was first went to the House of the Democratic Senator from the state of the state, John Hoffman on the night of Saturday (local time). He pretended to be a police officer, but the Senator and his wife Yvette said that he was not a police officer. The suspect then announced that this was a robbery and had entered the apartment’s apartment. He shot the senator and his wife several times, who were seriously injured.
Charged with murder and stalking
Then the suspect fled and stopped at the houses of two other politicians. According to the information, however, one of the houses was left, but shortly afterwards the police arrived, which had been alerted by the attack on Senator Hoffman. The alleged perpetrator therefore continued to the house of democratic MP Melissa Hortman and her husband. He is accused of having shot both.
The 57-year-old has now also been charged at the federal level for murder and stalking. If he is convicted, he could threaten lifelong imprisonment or even the death penalty, Thompson stated. At the moment, one could not say whether one would strive for a death penalty. However, this is one of the options that are available at the charges. The suspect has therefore carefully planned his attacks and also monitored the apartments of his victims.
US Justice Minister Pam Bondi spoke to Hortman and her husband in a message of “terrible, targeted murders” and also condemned the shots on Hoffman and his wife. These terrible acts of violence would not remain unanswered. The Ministry of Justice would counter the suspect with the full hardness of the rule of law.
