The United States has tens of thousands of soldiers in the region. To protect them, the US military moves new forces to the Middle East.
In view of the war between Israel and Iran, the United States is strengthening its military presence in the Middle East. He ordered this at the weekend to protect his own troops in the region, wrote US defense minister Pete Hegseth on the platform X. He did not give any details that are hidden behind the military’s “additional skills” moved to the region. The protection of his own troops has “top priority for the USA,” he wrote.
According to matching media reports, the US military sends a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. The “USS NIMITZ” and the associated ships would be deducted from Asia earlier than planned to support the aircraft carrier “USS Carl Vinson” in the Middle East, reported, among other things, the CNN and NBC news. The “USS Nimitz” driven by a nuclear reactor with a crew of several thousand soldiers can transport dozens of fighter planes. The aircraft carrier should probably arrive in the region next week.
At the weekend there were also agreement in US media that the military moved dozens of tanker aircraft to Europe in order to be able to use them quickly in the Middle East if necessary. Tanker aircraft are important for the logistics of large combat missions – for example, they allow fighter jets to stay in the air for significantly longer, or to cover larger distances to attack goals.
A total of a total of 40,000 soldiers are currently stationed on the bases of the US military in the region – for example in Iraq, in Qatar or Kuwait. The US military supports Israel’s defense, especially with shooting from Iran fired ballistic rockets. At the same time, the US government emphasizes that it does not participate in the fighting between Israel and Iran. Protecting your own troops in the region has priority.
