G7 surprisingly agreed on an explanation of the Iran War

At the G7 summit, it initially looks as if the participants could not agree on a common language on important foreign policy issues. Now there is an exception.

US President Donald Trump and the other G7 bosses unexpectedly agreed on a joint explanation of the war between Israel and Iran. In the text published by host Canada, Iran is referred to as “the main source of regional instability and terror” and Israel emphasizes the right to self -defense. The G7 heads of state and government also explain that it was always unequivocally clarified that Iran should never get into the possession of a nuclear weapon.

The agreement on the declaration on Monday evening (local time) took place a few hours after the Weißen Haus’s announcement that Trump returns to Washington early due to the Middle East crisis and dispenses with the second summit day.

There is no direct criticism of the Israeli approach to Iran in the explanation of the group of leading democratic economic powers. It is only emphasized by the importance of the protection of the civilian population in the conflict and demands that the solution to the Iran crisis should lead to a more comprehensive de -escalation of hostility in the Middle East – including a ceasefire in the Gaza strip.

The effects of the current conflict on the international energy markets are said that it will continue to be observed carefully. You are ready to take coordinated measures together with like -minded partners to ensure the stability of the markets.

Trump sees Tehrans’ willingness to talk

Trump had previously indicated that Iran was ready for negotiations and that he would take care of it as soon as he returned from the G7 meeting. At the same time, there are fears that the United States could actively intervene in the military discussion, which would mean a completely new escalation.

The agreement on the explanation is one of the few successes that the current Canadian G7 presidency was able to achieve at the summit. With many other important topics such as world trade, climate protection, Ukraine war and development aid, it was not possible to agree joint positions because the new US President Trump did not agree to the G7 line to date. That is why the Canadian hosts also avoided having a large declaration of final negotiated.

Israel has been attacking goals in Iran since the night of Friday – including nuclear facilities, leading military, nuclear scientists, defense positions, destinations in cities and oil and natural gas fields. The main goal is to prevent the Islamic Republic from the secret development of nuclear weapons. Iran reacted with counterattacks to Israel.

The war between the two arch enemies is an important escalation of the already dramatic situation in the Middle East. Since October 2023, Israel has also been a war against Islamist Hamas in the Gaza strip-in response to a devastating Hamas attack on Israeli soil. Due to the military conflict between Iran and Israel, there is a risk of surface in the entire region.
