Russian attack on Kyiv kills at least 14 people

Ukraine urgently needs international help. But President Selenskyj’s important meeting with Donald Trump does not come about. Russia shoots the Ukrainian capital.

It was a night of terror for Kiev: at least 14 dead and more than 110 injuries were counted after a serious nightly Russian air raid in the Ukrainian capital. President Wolodymyr Selenskyj also called the other goals: the cities of Odessa, Saporischschja, Tschernihiw, Kirowohrad, Mykolajiw. The Russian army used around 440 fight drones and 32 rockets against Ukraine, wrote Selenskyj on X.

“Such attacks are pure terrorism. And the whole world, the United States and Europe must finally react to terrorists as civilized societies,” said the Ukrainian President. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin attacks “because he can afford to continue the war”.

Moscow speaks of precision attack

The Russian military spoke of a “blow with air, land and sea-supported precision weapons and unmanned flight devices”. Armor companies at Kyiv and Saporischeschja were mentioned as goals. “The goal of the blows has been achieved. All given objects were destroyed,” said the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. In Kiev, however, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko showed that a CH-101 jam aircraft had been hit directly into a native-storey high-rise.

Selenskyjs meet with Trump

The international situation is currently difficult for Ukraine, which has been overwhelmed by Russia for more than three years. Selenskyj would have wanted to talk to US President Donald Trump at the G7 summit in Canada today about further sanctions against Moscow and arms purchases. However, Trump has already left the meeting of the most important democratic industrialized countries.

Trump’s attempts to come to the end of the war for several months went practically in the sand. There is no agreement between Europe and the USA about new sanctions. And all the attention of international politics is currently aimed at the conflict between Israel and the potential nuclear power of Iran.

Putin continues the war while he at the same time is to show at the Economic Forum in St. Petersburg that it is not isolated and finds ways to avoid sanctions. “It is wrong if the powerful of this world close their eyes before,” wrote Selenskyj. The attackers should feel the pain “not the innocent peaceful people”.

Nine hours of air alarm over Kyiv

The air alarm in Kyiv lasted almost nine hours at night. According to a report by the portal “The Kyiv Independent”, reporters heard drone and rocket noises and numerous explosions in the city. Interior Minister Klymenko said in 27 locations. Residential buildings, educational institutions and important infrastructure facilities are affected.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko also reported numerous fires on Telegram. More than 40 apartments were destroyed in a high -rise building. “The search for people under ruins continues,” said the military governor of the capital, Tymur Tkatschenko. Between 4 and 14 people would still be missing. He reported at least 114 injuries at noon, 68 of whom were in the hospital. Power failures were also reported. A mourning day was proclaimed in Kyiv for Wednesday.

A 62-year-old American in Kiev died during the attack, reported Mayor Klitschko. Doctors had found a natural death with him.

Drones also on Odessa

Kyiv is usually better secured by air defense than other cities in the country. Nevertheless, the capital is repeatedly hit by severe attacks with drones or rockets. Numerous drones were also fired on the port city of Odessa on the Black Sea. The regional military administration reported a dead and 13 injuries.

Because Russia has increased the in -house production of combat drones of Iranian design, nightly attacks with several hundred aircraft are no longer uncommon. In one night last week, the Russian army used almost 500 fight drones or drone dummy. These are intended to distract and overload air defense.

The Ukraine also attacked Russia with drones in its defense fight. Seven airports, including four in Moscow, temporarily recorded restrictions in air traffic.

Many rockets warded off

The Ukrainian Air Force said that 239 were intercepted that night. Another 169 drones were electronically switched off or lost. Two hyperschallrakets of the Kinschal were also fended off.

15 of 16 CH-101 marching air bodies were shot down and all of the March aircraft of the types CH-59/69. There were no defense against four marching aircraft Kalibr started on the Black Sea. “The main goal of the attack was the city of Kiev,” it said. The military information cannot be checked in detail, but they show the extent of the air raids.
