The tax relief for the economy could burden the countries and municipalities. There are discussions for compensations. SPD boss Klingbeil will soon want a solution.
SPD boss Lars Klingbeil is confident for relief for the federal states and municipalities to catch the investment program for the economy. “We want the booster. We want companies to invest more,” said the Federal Minister of Finance at the SPD state party conference in Cottbus. “Of course it is clear: the whole thing must not be at the expense of the municipalities.”
Therefore, in addition to the basic financial relationships between the federal government, the states and the municipalities, “how we can get compensation,” said the SPD leader. It will be worked on on the weekend. “The goal is that we have a common solution on Tuesday at the latest,” said Klingbeil. “I am optimistic that it succeeds.”
Incentives would bring loss of income
The Bundestag is expected to decide on a program next Thursday to get the MAUE economic situation going. It contains incentives for investments, including extended tax depreciation options for machines and electric vehicles. From 2028, corporation tax should also decrease.
However, the plans would bring loss of income for the federal, state and municipalities due to falling taxes. The federal states require a financial compensation from the federal government, many municipalities are indebted. “We want companies to invest more,” said Klingbeil. For this, incentives would be set.
