The Federal Foreign Office is once again organizing a special flight for Germans who want to leave Israel to Germany. The machine is to take off in the Jordanian capital Amman in the afternoon.
German citizens and close family members who were in Israel because of the war with Iran are to be brought to Germany in the afternoon with another special flight from the Jordan capital Amman. The special flight should start from Jordan because airspace is still blocked through Israel, as it is said from the Federal Foreign Office.
The Federal Foreign Office had already organized two charter flights with 345 people on board via Amman Airport to Germany in the past few days. On the night of Saturday, two Bundeswehr machines with 64 German Israel returnees at Cologne/Bonn Airport also ended up in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Air Force has flown directly from Israel from Israel for the first time since the beginning of the war between Israel and Iran ago. According to the “Spiegel”, the machines are said to have received a special permit for landing in Tel Aviv.
Germans have to organize journey to the airport themselves
There was initially no information on how many Germans should be flown out in the afternoon by special flight from Amman. “We keep all the Germans registered on the crisis list of the crisis list about details about these flights,” it said. The journey to the airport must “take place independently not least for security reasons and individual circumstances”. In order to support German nationals on site, embassy staff in Amman are at the Allby of the Allby Border Cross between Jordan and Israel and Amman Airport.
Thousands of Germans still in Iran and Israel
According to the information from the Federal Foreign Office, there are currently around 1,000 Germans in Iran and around 4,000 German citizens in Israel. The “commercial flight options from Amman” are still not sufficient. The Federal Foreign Office continues to call for all Germans to register on the Elefand crisis list and to keep the data up to date.
Departure from Iran difficult but possible
The departure of Germans from Iran is also “very difficult”. The Federal Foreign Office did not announce special flights for Germans who are currently in Iran.
The border crossings to Armenia and Turkey are open and an departure over these two countries is “fundamentally possible,” it said. People could also leave “in individual cases” across the border between Iran and Azerbaijan. “Both from Armenia as well as from Turkey and Azerbaijan consists of regular commercial air traffic. The airports and air rooms are open. Germans should use these opportunities to continue traveling to Germany,” it said.
Foreign Office considers Groß Convois to be too dangerous
Because of the “volatile security situation” in Iran and in Israel, overland trips also have a great risk. Collected large convoys are “currently not an option” for security reasons, since this would require that Germans come together from different parts of the country. “This would mean additional long travel and sometimes waiting times and, given the ongoing air strikes, would create a significant risk of path,” it said.
German citizens on site are therefore also called to “weigh down to the country on the country, depending on their individual situation”.
