Berlin: Thousands of people protest against Israel’s approach in Gaza

In the center of Berlin, thousands of people against Israel and the army’s approach protested in the Gaza strip on Saturday. They gathered in front of the Reichstag, later the demonstrators wanted to move through the government district to Potsdamer Platz. The police spoke of at least 10,000 participants in the afternoon.

Many demonstrators carried Palestinian towels and swiveled Palestinian flags, many people chanted speakers, held up signs with slogans and expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The protest took place under the motto “United 4 Gaza”. Among other things, the Berlin police got an overview of the action with a helicopter. On posters, demands for the end of arms deliveries to Israel and an immediate stop of the “genocide” and the attacks in the Gaza Strip were seen. Other people held blood red smeared Peace characters in their hands.

The war in the Gaza Strip was triggered by the unprecedented major attack by the radical Islamic Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023. According to Israeli information, around 1200 people were killed and 251 were dragged into the Gaza strip as hostages. After the Hamas attack, Israel started a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip.

The supply situation in the Palestinian area is catastrophic. According to the health authorities conducted by Hamas, almost 56,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war.

In London, too, tens of thousands went on the street to support the Palestinians on Saturday. They criticized the Israeli procedure in the Gaza Strip as well as the country’s attacks on Iran.
