Tournament in Switzerland
These are the teams of ARD and ZDF at the women’s European Championship
For the first time, ARD and ZDF show all games of a women’s European Championship-a big step for women’s football. Here you can see the moderators, commentators and experts from the broadcaster.
The European Football Championship of women starts in Switzerland on July 2, and the German team also pays off the chances of the title. Women’s football has become more important in recent years, which is also evident on television. ARD and ZDF for the first time broadcast all games of a tournament.
There are a total of 131 encounters at the European Championship until July 27th. The first two games on July 2 will be shown in the ARD. The first also broadcasts the first two group games of the German team against Poland (4th July, 9 p.m. in St. Gallen) and Denmark (July 8, 6 p.m. in Basel). The game against the last group opponent Sweden (July 12, 9 p.m. in Zurich) can be seen on ZDF, as well as the final.
There are some well-known voices and faces at the women’s European Championship-but also some new ones. In our photo gallery you can see the moderators, experts, commentators and interviewers from ARD and ZDF.
Women’s European Championship: German team wants to get the ninth title
The linchpin in the first place in the first is the studio on the sports show campus in Cologne. As usual, ZDF reports from Mainz, where moderator Sven Voss and expert Kathrin Lehmann welcome the spectators from the studio. Both broadcasters also take documentation on the subject of women’s football.
How big the viewer interest is, should also depend heavily on the performance of the German team. The team of national coach Christian Wück is aiming for the ninth German European Championship title. The DFB team was already in the European Championship final in 2022, but lost to host England at the time. 18 million television viewers saw the final in the Wembley Stadium.
“We are now hoping for such an emotional football festival for the upcoming European Championship in our neighboring country and will do everything to transport the sport, the excitement and the mood extensively and first-class to Germany on the screens of our audience,” says ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky.
