From Jürgen Klopp to CR7
This is how the football world reacts to Diogo Jota’s death
The death of Liverpool professional Diogo Jota has shocked the football world. Many players were dismayed. Including Jürgen Klopp and the DFB.
There are days when football suddenly becomes so unimportant: On Thursday it became known that 28-year-old professional player Diogo Jota and his brother André died in a traffic accident. Particularly heartbreaking: The professional of FC Liverpool had only married eleven days ago, now leaves three small children and his wife Rod Cardoso.
Diogo’s misfortune shocks the football world. Many clubs and players tried to put their horror into words – even if many could hardly do it.
“That makes no sense,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo on social networks. “We were just together with the national team, you had just just married.” Ronaldo, who was a captain in the national team, wished his widow and the three children all the power of the world. “I know that you will always be with them. Resting in peace, Diogo and André. We will miss you all.”
Jürgen Klopp: “There has to be a greater sense, but I don’t see him”
Diogo Jota, who also played in Liverpool under Star coach Klopp and would have been teammate from Florian Wirtz in the coming season, had shared a wedding video on Instagram shortly before his death in Spain. “A day that we will never forget,” says it.
