On February 17, the Petersburg football club Zenit lost to the Spanish Betis in the first match of the 1/16 finals of the Europa League.

The fact that the players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” will compete for reaching the 1/8 finals of the Europa League with the Spanish “Betis” became known on December 13.

It was noted that in other play-offs, Sevilla will meet with Dynamo Zagreb, Atalanta with Olympiacos, RB Leipzig with Real Sociedad, Barcelona with Napoli, Borussia Dortmund – with Rangers, Sheriff – with Braga, Porto – with Lazio.

Zenit finished third in their Champions League group with Juventus, Chelsea and Malmö. Thanks to this, the blue-white-blue got a ticket to the playoffs of the Europa League. Betis finished second in their league quartet.
