After the meeting of the Committee that took place this Tuesday, it was determined that the VAR will begin to be used in the local tournament in the first weekend of April, pending the completion of the construction of the rooms in Ezeiza, called VOR (Video Operator Room).
This was indicated by the national director of Arbitration, Federico Beligoyin statements to the TyC Sports cable signal: “The meeting ended a while ago, it is confirmed that the VAR will start on date 8”said.
And he detailed: “The implementation of VAR was delayed because first we have to carry out training. We need two or three weeks of training before it is implemented, it is a matter of FIFA protocol, and as it has only now been confirmed we will have these weeks to prepare the referees”.
In this way, the first date of the VAR in the Argentine competition will be after the day of the classics, which will be played on date seven, so the duels Boca-River, Racing-Independiente, San Lorenzo-Huracán, Rosario Central -Newell’s and Gimnasia-Estudiantes, among others, will not have the aforementioned tool.
In addition, Beligoy left a message for the fans: “We ask the public to understand that it is a new tool, we are going to need time to adapt. We ask for your patience”.
However, he added: “In any case, we are convinced that we have had a first-class practice, and the referees are prepared to use VAR. It is not our idea that the match is constantly cut, it is going to be used for specific situations. “.
