Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju Durodola on Thursday, February 17, shared his expectations from the fight against the Russian mixed style fighter Magomed Ismailov.
“I am fully prepared because this is my job, boxing. I know that my opponent is a serious guy, but I’m still fully prepared to face him. My only message is that this is not MMA, but boxing. And I’m going to teach him how to box properly. On Friday we will show a good fight, ”he told Izvestia.
The sportsman noted that he started training twice a day after he was assigned fights with Ismailov.
The day before, the Nigerian called himself the favorite of the duel with Ismailov. According to the boxer, he feels at home in the Russian capital.
On February 16, Russian boxer Kostya Tszyu supported Ismailov before the fight with the Nigerian. Tszyu came to training to Ismailov and gave him instructions. The athlete, in turn, noted that it was a great honor for him to train under the guidance of Tszyu.
On February 15, Russian boxer and trainer Alexander Zolkin assessed the chances of Ismailov’s victory in a duel with Durodola. As the athlete is convinced, the outcome of the meeting will largely depend on the physical form of the Nigerian. According to Zolkin, if he is in good physical shape, then Ismailov has no chance.
The Russian fighter on the same day said that he was not embarrassed by the position of the underdog (outsider) in the upcoming fight. He expressed confidence in victory and promised to show the opponent “real boxing.”
For the last month, Ismailov has been preparing for the confrontation in Thailand. The fighter did not go through the classical boxing school, which, according to Durodola, is a disadvantage for the Russian.
