Accident death of Diogo Jota: Police suspect excessive speed
Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, 25, are killed in a car accident. The Spanish police now announce further details on the accident.
The FC Liverpool star and Portuguese international Diogo Jota was probably on the road at his fatal car accident in Spain, according to the first results of the investigation. Tire traces indicated an “exceeding the top speed on the street”, the Spanish police said on Tuesday. It also indicates “that Diogo Jota was the driver of the crashed vehicle”.
According to the police, Jotas Wagen, a Lamborghini, had strayed from the road on July 3 on a motorway in the northwestern -panic province of Zamora. In addition to the 28-year-old Jota, his 25-year-old brother André Silva, who was also a soccer professional and played at the Portuguese second division club FC Penafiel, also died in the accident.
Immediately after the accident, the Spanish police had assumed a burst tire during an overtaking maneuver as the cause of the accident.
Diogo Jota died shortly after wedding
A week and a half before the accident, Jota had married his long -time girlfriend Rut Cardoso. A few hours before his accident death, he and his wife published a video of the wedding celebration in the Instagram online service. The couple has three children together.
Before his wedding, Jota won the master title of the English Premier League with Liverpool FC. With the Portuguese national team, Jota won the UEFA Nations League in June. Last Saturday, Jota and his brother were buried in their home town of Gondomar near Porto.
