Tennis: With white armling: strong siner in the Wimbledon semi-final

Jannik Sinner defied his elbow problems and confidently reached the semi -finals in Wimbledon. The tennis world list from Italy won 7: 6 (7: 2), 6: 4, 6: 4 with a bandaged right arm against the American Ben Shelton and can continue to dream of his first title at the lawn classic. He now meets the winner of the parallel game between his compatriot Flavio Cobolli and the Serbs Novak Djokovic.

“I am very happy with my idea,” said Sinner. “If you are in a match with a lot of tension, you are not trying to think about it. It has improved a lot since yesterday. Yesterday my day was very short on the training ground, only 20 minutes. It is no excuse, there is no better stage to play tennis.”

Sinner had injured the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16 with a fall on the right elbow, was with 0: 2 sets, but benefited from the task of his opponent. Then the 23-year-old had himself examined by MRI.

Painful blow in the second set

As with training in the morning, Sinner wore a white armling for protection. In the second set, the South Tyrolean only hit one of Shelton’s crashes with the frame of his racket. Then he shook his arm and kept the elbow several times.

Nevertheless, Sinner showed his extra class in the crucial moments of the game and in the second round the only break made it to 6: 4. Shorton had been tapping on the foot shortly before. Also in the third round, Sinner took his opponent with 5: 4 lead and was able to cheer on his second semi-finals in Wimbledon.
