“A shock”
Fired Formula 1 boss Christian Horner crying at the farewell speech
Christian Horner’s farewell words at the Red Bull Formula 1 team can be seen on a cell phone video. The released and successful boss struggles with the tears.
His immediate end with Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 world championship team Red Bull was “a shock” for the previous boss Christian Horner. The 51-year-old said in his farewell speech in the factory of the racing team in Milton Keynes, which the British broadcaster Sky Sports published in parts. The broadcaster had an almost two -minute cell phone video. Accordingly, Horner, who at the end of the admission, was informed on Tuesday evening that he would lose his post, and he personally said goodbye to the employees on Wednesday morning.
Christian Horner: “The greatest privilege of my life”
“I continue to stay in the company, but the baton is handed over operatively. And of course that was a shock for me,” said Horner in the team seat. However, it seems excluded that he actually continues to work for Red Bull. His contract as a team manager actually ran until 2030. Several media are currently being negotiated about the termination of the contract.
“I just want to express my thanks to every single member of the team, which has given so much in the last 20.5 years that I have been here,” said Horner at the microphone. “We started building two dilapidated buildings, which became a driving force in Formula 1. To be part of this team was the greatest privilege of my life.” Afterwards there was applause from the employees when his voice broke.
Team boss goes “heavy heart”
Later, Horner also turned to the fans on Instagram for the first time. “It was an honor for me to be part of this incredible era of motorsport. I proudly go to what we have achieved,” wrote Horner and added: “Heavy heart today I say goodbye to the team that I loved so much.”
An affair for inappropriate behavior, the sporting crisis that has been going on for months and the impending loss of series world champion Verstappen provided the Red Bull Group bosses for the outsourcing team boss for 20 years. Horner also lost the long smoldering power struggle with the team, which he made so successful. To the successor, the top of the group promoted the previous team boss of the small sister racing team Racing Bulls, Laurent Mekies, 48.
