“For personal reasons”: Zverev can say for Gstaad
After the Wimbledon-out, Alexander Zverev announced a tournament break until the end of July. Now comes the formal cancellation for an event in Switzerland.
According to the statements in Wimbledon, tennis star Alexander Zverev has canceled his participation in the upcoming ATP tournament in Gstaad. This is done “for personal reasons”, the organizers said one day before the draw on the website. The clay court tournament begins next Monday after the Grand Slam ended on lawn in London.
After his first round in Wimbledon, the world number of Zverev reported that he was mentally in a hole and it was difficult for him to find joy outside the tennis court. He may need therapy for the first time in his life, said the 28-year-old.
Start planned in Toronto at the end of July
Zverev had announced that something had to change in him, which did not necessarily have to do with tennis.
