Immediately after his finals, Alcaraz was already looking forward to the second duel of the day. “This is one of the most exciting duels we have on the tour. Djokovic against Jannik,” he said. “As a big tennis fan, I will try to see too much of it as possible.”
But the game rarely kept what the big names had promised. Sinner acted too dominant right from the start, Djokovic did not affect his skills. The 38-year-old had slipped badly shortly before his quarter-finals and hit the lawn hard. Sinner started again with a white armling after overstretching his right elbow in the round of 16.
Only a short rearing of Djokovic
But above all Djokovic looked restricted, it was not well moved. Sinner got a dream start. During the second serve, he put pressure on Djokovic early, had a higher pace in the basic strokes and made the early break. The South Tyrolean won almost all long rallies, after only 33 minutes he won the first set.
