Debate about goalkeeper Berger: Now national coach Wück is talking plain text
DFB keeper Ann-Kathrin Berger Mag Dribblings, for which national coach Christian Wück criticized her at the women’s European Championship. Now he comments on his player again.
After his criticism of regular keeper Ann-Katrin Berger, national coach Christian Wück wiped the topic off the table before the last EM group game. “We never had a goalkeeper debate,” said the 52-year-old before the game against Sweden on Saturday (9:00 p.m./ZDF and DAZN) in Zurich. “There were never any discussions.”
He had “analyzed the game with Berger, had a normal conversation – as with other players,” added Wück at the final press conference. He didn’t want to say anything about the content: “If I have a conversation with a player under four eyes, you can be sure that it stays internal.”
Berger had defended her style of play
After the 2-1 against Denmark, Wück had clearly expressed his displeasure over the three risky dribbling Bergers right in front of his own goal. He will “sit at the table with her that we have to find other solutions – because otherwise I won’t get old”.
The 34 -year -old Berger had defended her style of play: “I love playing football and I think that’s just my way. Maybe you can minimize it, but I think I will definitely not get it out.” The three actions by the Olympic heroine from the US Club NY/NJ Gotham FC had also gone well.
Sweden and Germany have already qualified for the quarter -finals. The German selection needs a win to pass the World Cup third.
