It remains unclear how Marc-André Ter Stegen will continue at FC Barcelona. During the first training of the new season, he is not on the pitch with the team.

National goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen completed a solo unit at the FC Barcelona training sessions. The 33-year-old worked in the fitness room and trained on the edge of the group, as the club itself announced-not without referring to the first training session of the new Barça keeper Joan Garcia.

The 24-year-old, who came from the city rival Espanyol, is said to be the new number one at the Spanish Triple winner of the past season. Captain Ter Stegen, on the other hand, is said to leave the club. So far, the German national goalkeeper has not publicly commented on this. His contract at FC Barcelona is still valid until June 30, 2028.

Club gives no reasons for Ter Stegen’s solo training

Barcelona had recently extended the contract with the 35 -year -old former Polish national goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. The club had won this during the long failure of Ter Stegen due to a serious knee injury last season.

The club did not explain why Ter Stegen did not train with the other 35 professionals at Campo Tito Vilanova on Monday evening. No reasons for the solo unit were also mentioned in Spanish media.

According to media reports, Barcelona’s German trainer Hansi Flick is said to have informed Ter Stegen on Friday that the German keeper will not be set in the coming season and has both García and Szczęsny. The situation is delicate for the German goalkeeper: in the World Cup season, a permanent bank role in the club could also affect its situation in the national team.
