The German contract, which was changed by Borussia Mönchengladbach in summer 2014, is still valid for three years. Only the club obviously wants to get rid of the 33 -year -old captain. The new number one – so everyone is sure – is Joan Garcia. The 24-year-old was fetched by the city rival Espanyol.

New number one has a contract until mid -2031

The fact that he received a contract with the Spanish Triple winner of the past season, which is valid by the end of June 2031, says everything about his perspective and the plans of the club bosses, among other things, about sports director Deco and trainer Hansi Flick.

FC Barcelona had recently extended the contract with the 35 -year -old Wojciech Szczęsny. The club had won the former Polish national goalkeeper, which was actually already receding, during the long failure of Ter Stegen due to a serious knee injury last season.

According to media reports, Flick is said to have informed Ter Stegen on Friday that the German keeper will not be set in the coming season and has both García and Szczęsny. The situation is delicate for the German goalkeeper: in the World Cup season, a permanent bank role in the club could also have a negative impact on its situation in the national team.

Interest from Turkey and Monaco

Again and again it is speculated with a strong interest by Galatasaray Istanbul, where he would meet his national team colleague Leroy Sané. But the AS Monaco is also said to have an interest in Ter Stegen, who in turn only publicly insisted on wanting to fulfill his contract at FC Barcelona.
