Reactions to Felix Baumgartner’s death come mainly from the right warehouse
The most famous extreme athlete dies with Felix Baumgartner. But after the accident, the number of mourners apparently is limited.
He was a man of extreme. Felix Baumgartner became world famous with daring jumps of skyscrapers, bridges and even from the stratosphere. On Thursday, the 56-year-old crashed with a paraglider in Italy on a flight. The exact circumstances are still unclear. According to the fire brigade, Baumgartner has so far been clear that Baumgartner lost control of his aircraft and plunged into the pool of a hotel complex. A woman was injured.
Baumgartner was long on the way to become an Austrian adult hero. After his stratospheric jump, he ended his career as an extreme athlete at the absolute highlight. After that it became quieter about the eccentric, in recent years he has been more likely to have been found in political discussions through right slogans.
Reactions on the death of Felix Baumgartner: Condolences from the FPÖ
The death of the 56-year-old moved many. In relation to the condolences, the vast majority have apparently been held back. On Friday, his sponsor group Red Bull published a message in which Baumgartner is described as “clear, demanding, critical-critical-but other, but above all to yourself”.
Furthermore, the beverage manufacturer that Baumgartner “has never chosen the easy path, but the greatest challenges with meticulousness, mind, accuracy and courage. You have mastered every project to the depth, no detail was too small, no risk too great – as long as you could calculate it. Thank you for being as you were.”
Otherwise, condolences from celebrities are limited. In addition to a few fans, only individual politicians of the right -wing extremist FPÖ condolized. The deputy head of Salzburg, Marlene Svazek, said in an Instagram post, Baumgartner was a “visionary, motivator, role model”.
FPÖ party friend Martin Zauner agreed: “Today the world has lost an exceptional athlete. Quiet in peace, Felix. You showed us how to fly.”
The party’s head also spoke up. Herbert Kickl praised Baumgartner as “a brave pioneer, a passionate patriot and person with attitude,” said. Baumgartner will be remembered “as an exception and adventurer”.
