Memphis Depay is unhappy with his role at FC Barcelona. The Dutchman is apparently considering a return to Lyon.
Memphis Depay from FC Barcelona is apparently considering a return to Olympique Lyon. According to information from Le Quotidien Depay is said to be in contact with his former employer to explore the terms of a possible transfer.
The currently injured Dutchman sees himself playing a supporting role in the Blaugrana’s future after the additions of Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore.
FC Barcelona: Depay top scorer
Depay was brought from Lyon by the then Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman in 2021, where the 28-year-old’s contract expired. So far this season he has scored eight goals in the Primera Division, making him the top scorer in fifth place in the table.
Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas should have no objection to Depay’s return. Especially not if coveted star midfielder Lucas Paqueta should leave the Ligue 1 club after the 2021/22 season. Depay’s contract with FC Barcelona runs until the summer of 2023.
