Felix Baumgartner’s girlfriend filmed his last flight
She filmed his last start, shortly afterwards Felix Baumgartner crashed. Mihaela Schwartzenberg has said goodbye to her partner with an emotional post.
Extreme’s death from extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner moves many people. Now his partner Mihaela Schwartzenberg has contacted the public with touching words. The TV presenter released a short video on X, which Baumgartner shows when he started his accident flight with a motorized paraglider. “I filmed him without knowing that it will be the last flight of his extraordinary life,” wrote Schwartzenberg.
For twelve years she was at all starts and landings of Baumgartner, Schwartzenberg writes, from sky jumping to paragliding, helicopter flights, circular flying to aerobatic demonstrations. And if she couldn’t be there on helicopter flight, Baumgartner and she had the “WLC code”, the “Wifey Landing Call”, the call from the wife after landing. “I never missed one. Except … this one,” writes Schwartzenberg.

The 56-year-old Baumgartner died in a paragliding accident in Italy on Thursday, where he went on vacation with his girlfriend. Baumgartner crashed over a hotel site in the seaside resort of Porto Sant’elpidio and died at the scene of the accident. The cause of the accident is currently being determined. Baumgartner is speculated in the air through a medical emergency or a technical problem on his aircraft.
Stratosphere jump made Felix Baumgartner famous
The Austrian extreme athlete had become world famous in 2012 with his stratospheric jump from a height of 39 kilometers and held numerous jump records. According to Baumgartner, his partner Schwartzenberg had once met in a TV interview that led her with him. On Friday, one day after the accident, the 55-year-old released a number of couple photos and the words “We were love” on Friday, one day after the accident.
In her posting on X, Schwartzenberg wrote on Saturday: “Felix Baumgartner is now going home, up there, where he was happiest.” She will make sure that his story will be told. First of all, however, she “does not have to be finished with the shock, pain and the sunrises, where I can only cook a coffee”.
