Do the DFB women solve the final ticket?

The German national team is only missing one step to the final of the European Championship in Basel. But it won’t be easy against Spain. The game in the live blog.

One last step is still missing. One last step into the final of Basel. On Wednesday evening, the German national women will meet Spain in the semi-finals. And a touch of summer fairy tales blows through Switzerland.

After the dramatic quarter -finals against France, in which the Germans had to play out more than 110 minutes and still won in a penalty shootout, hopes for the title could hardly be greater. But the game against the Spaniards does not simply not. Technically, the team may be the best in the world at the moment. So far it has dominated its opponents in the tournament, celebrated Kanters victories against Belgium (6: 2) and Portugal (5: 0).

Women’s European Championship: Germany meets the title favorite Spain in the semi-finals

So that it becomes something with the ninth EM title, the German national team has to turn off an absolute top favorite. However, the players apparently know what to expect. National coach Christian Wück predicts an extremely difficult game to his footballers. “I think we will run a lot. We will have to suffer a lot because we don’t have a ball,” said the 52-year-old in Zurich. “Everyone knows the Spaniards, the Spaniards. That doesn’t differ at all. They absolutely play the same football, this short pass game,” said Wück, who was European and world champion with the male U17 2023.

Particularly bitter: Wück not only has to do without midfielder Sjoeke Nüsken (second yellow card) and defender Hendrich, who is closed to France after her braid. After the early tournament of captain Giulia Gwinn, full-back Sarai Linder is also injured. For this, Gwinn’s deputy Carlotta Wamser, who has served her Red Pan from the Sweden game, returns.

So there could be better signs. But at least the statistics encourage: The German national team has played eight times against Spain. The DFB team has never lost.

The semi -finals will rise in Zurich on Wednesday from 9 p.m.
